Since the early 90's, we have been supporting local and city fire departments with the Nederman Emergency Vehicle Exhaust Extraction line. Not only are we the local factory reps, but our crew can assist with all aspects of your job. From supply to install to maintenance, we have you covered!
Firefighters and EMS professionals take every precaution necessary when they're out in the field, but what about the dangers in the station? Diesel exhaust, found in every fire and emergency station across the country, is produced when the apparatus are turned on and their engines begin burning diesel fuel. Although manufactures have done an excellent job removing the color of this exhaust, it still contains carcinogenic substances such as benzene, arsenic, and formaldehyde. Diesel exhaust also contains other dangerous and harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxides. Exposure to these contaminants is not just limited to the engine bay, the exhaust spreads into areas where firemen eat, sleep and reside. It even permeates their gear.
Numerous studies and scientific research have shown cancer rates among firemen are exceptionally high, and Nederman vehicle exhaust systems can help reduce this rate. General ventilation and re-circulation systems are not enough to extract the toxic diesel fumes, and can leave firefighters and EMS professionals still at risk. The only truly effective method is capturing the gases directly from the tailpipe. Nederman systems with exhaust rails and tracks provide protection even as the apparatus is in motion exiting the station to ensure the safe evacuation of exhaust fumes.
Our team has been supporting the Nederman Emergency Vehicle Exhaust Extraction line since 1990 and are experienced in every aspect of the project. We have designed, supplied, installed and maintained emergency stations across Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Northern Delaware, and Northeastern Maryland.
Facilities we have outfitted and/or serviced with Nederman equipment includes:
The Nederman attachment mechanism releases the nozzle immediately upon exit. The release distance to the door is fully adjustable, making it compatible with any station.
The Nederman MagnaSystem is the only system to extract 100% of the exhaust fumes while simultaneously drawing in ambient air for cooling, lengthening the life expectancy of the system.
Nederman's 6 1/4" hoses enables a high airflow rate with a low pressure drop, allowing the fan to operate with optimal efficiency. Thus, the fan doesn't have to be oversized, saving energy and cutting down on noise.
An exhaust extraction system without loops in the hoses not only saves space between vehicles, but reduces the risk of hose swing. This is a great advantage in smaller stations.
A small electromagnet located approximately 3' above the exhaust pipe helps the operator avoid bending down and breathing in residual fumes while attaching the nozzle.
A smooth release prevents tension build-up and eliminates swinging hoses. The slingshot effect, pendular motion, and risk of damage to nearby staff or vehicles are all greatly reduced.
